Pictures of our Home...Before we work our magic!

Home update for our families!

We are looking to close on our new home the first week of October...our initial thinking was to close the very last of September, but it is going to save us more money to wait until October because then we can skip our November payment also...which just helps for Christmas! :0) Man am I excited about Christmas in our house! Its been years since we were in a house that I could actually decorate the way I wanted for Christmas! I've already been dreaming about it!!! Yipee!!!
Anyway, I am posting pictures of the house so family and friends can see the house!

Front of House...Again in case you forgot!
 Entry
No, that door will not stay purple! I actually had the pleasure of speaking with the guy that handled the remodel, and I look right at him and asked what was he thinking when he painted the door purple.  He explained that he is a man...and he doesn't understand color schemes, so he goes to the hardware/paint store and asks for the outdoor color guides and just goes with whatever it has paired together. I laughed! We plan on red.
The Den
The only bedroom on the first floor...it is to the left as you walk through the front door. I'm so excited for this room!!!
 Formal living room!
Oh yeah...I'm excited about this room!!! I can see the Christmas tree lights reflecting off of those beautifully refinished wood floors...its going to be so much fun!
 Dining room
This is the main reason we decided on this house! I wanted a Dining room...and it seems the newer homes are trending away from dining rooms...thus my appeal to an older home!
 Kitchen
Oh yes...that is a wooden ceiling...do I love it? Yes I do!
And yes those are granite counter tops...and an Island...and you cant see it in this picture but there is a double convection oven on the wall to the left!!! I really love this Kitchen!
We still need to buy a fridge for it though.
Breakfast Nook
I love this bay window! I have thoughts of Trapper laying in this window reading books enjoying the sunshine (the little sunshine we get in Oregon! LOL)
 Family Room
I love that my boys will be able to play in this room while I'm in the kitchen...and yes that is wood paneling  on only one wall...I have a few things that are going to need worked on! LOL

Mud Room
YAY!!! A room for mud! I'm excited! :0) There is also a half bath right behind the camera.

Now lets go upstairs!!!!
Thatcher's Bedroom
This room is pretty good sized...and I love the slanted ceiling!!! LOVE it!
 Main Bath
I am so excited about this claw foot tub! I have got plans for this room...I may have to fly my Dad out for help with the plumbing though...
 Trapper's Bedroom
He is going to love this room! It is bigger than Thatcher's (but the oldest gets the biggest room right?) and it has two closets...I'm thinking I'll turn one into a reading nook!
 Master Bedroom
The Master suite is the entire front of the house upstairs! The ceilings are going to take Terek some getting used to...he's just so tall!
Master Bath
Double sinks, Granite counters, extra closet for Terek LOL...There are 3 closets in the Master bedroom!

Now let me show you the backyard...it doesn't even look this good right now...Most of our work on this home is going to be on this backyard...The home has sat vacant for about 3 years...it was repossessed and sold at auction then remodeled and then it sat for 10 months waiting for us! :) So needless to say the backyard is forgotten about...but we'll fix that!

I hate this Gazebo...it is made of aluminum...and the brick pad it is laid on really cuts into our backyard, so it'll be moved... :0) and the Gazebo may just be thrown out.
Back View
That is an apple tree to the right...deer have been coming into the backyard all summer to eat the apples...there are also plum trees!
Trapper is really excited about this backyard...we did a garage sale to earn money for a trampoline for him, and a sandbox for Thatcher...that way they earned them, and will hopefully love them more! So Trapper keeps asking when we get to go get his trampoline and sandbox. :0) I am really excited!

So this is our new home...We have quite a lot of work ahead of us.  We have lots of plans for this place and we'll post pictures after we've got it in "Beckman shape"

I feel like I should mention how wonderful this home feels to be in...we've moved around for so many years, and while I love the adventure, and am more comfortable with change, I am so excited to settle for a little bit! I had the pleasure of being in the home for a couple of hours during the inspection, and I have to say...I could feel Heavenly Father's love. The home already has a wonderful spirit about it, and I am so excited to live in it!

We've been so blessed by our Father in Heaven lately...Sometimes I'm not sure what I did right to receive so many blessings and tender mercies.  All I know is that I am grateful everyday for what I've been given...especially my family!

Start of Something Great!

Many things are changing here at the Beckman household...So I figured its probably a good time to start this blog...for family, and DIYers alike... :)

We bought a house...we close End of September...so...Let the projects begin!!!

Picture of the house... It has many projects...but its really beautiful and has so much charm!  If I built a house, it'd be very similar to this! We fell in love with this home when we first saw it...but when we went to make an offer the listing agent informed us that there were two other offers being submitted the same night...so we would have to hurry and complete the offer and make it good enough to compete...well the very last minute before we sent the offer, we decided to let the house go...we werent comfortable offering full asking and it just didn't feel right! So we continued searching...the following Saturday we went house searching solo. Our realtor hadn't gotten back to us so we decided to go look alone.
We found a house we liked, and even made an offer through their realtor (trying to save money on realtor fees) The home was 27 years newer and really pretty...but after fighting with the realtor from Hell...and dwelling on the fact that it didn't have a dining room, we decided to terminate our agreement. The day we decided, our first realtor (who is amazing BTW) called and told us the initial house we fell in love with was still available. Apparently the listing agent had Bold faced lied about the multiple offers in an attempt to drive up our offer. Good thing we didn't fall for it!!! So we made an offer...low ball offer...they countered at the halfway price point+paying closing...and BAM we have a signed contract on a house we LOVE!!! Thanks to Heavenly Father guiding our missteps we're back to the house with the charm we fell in love with!

Now the projects begin...
My husband bought himself a new flatscreen TV...making our enormous entertainment center obsolete...so we bought this...$10 of craigslist... We sanded it down, fixed the dings, turned the top drawers into shelves that hold all our different video game systems and put new hardware on it...
This one is the real color ^

All of the top ones open!

Total it cost us $19! Doesn't get much better than that!
Many more projects to come...I'm buying a hutch for the dinning room tomorrow...it's gunna be a good redo!!! Stay tuned!!!
